Embossing:    'NOT TO BE TAKEN' / 'REGD NO 459210'

Description:   An incredibly important offering. We feel privileged that this historically important poison has been assigned to this auction.  None other than the original cobalt blue Taylor's poison with warning bumps on the front and back exactly as Edward Taylor's 1905 patent specification (the actual one photographed and mentioned in 'Deadly Pleasures' p55 & p88) and now one of only two in existence (the other firmly locked away in a collection that sold for £4200 in Sept '16). This example comes in a fabulous cobalt blue colour and has deeply embossed warning bumps (many on the greens can be quite weakly embossed) - Interestingly the registered number on the reverse is incorrect in that is clearly reads '459210' wheras the actual number on the patent specification is 469210. This really is a stunning example and it could be said that a poison collection could be deemed incomplete without it. Full original sheen (just washed under a tap) and even better condition than the last one!

Era:    c1905+

Dimensions  Height : 129mm / Width across body: 44mm

Condition (please see detailed photo's):  Mint   Superb undamaged mint condition (being incredibly fussy, just the lightest of superficial scratches on the back panel which is barely visible and hardly worth mentioning but would otherwise have been 10/10)

Grade :  9.9     Estimate:   £2000-3000+     Reserve:   N/R
